Tree suitability
Hello. Can you tell me if planting an Italian Stone Pine (Pinus Pinea) si harmful in any way to grow in Jackson County? It will be in a woodland Resource zone at about 1200 feet elevation. Thank you

There is no evidence that I'm aware of that suggests it will be harmful. While apparently considered invasive in South Africa, it has been widely planted as an ornamental in the US and is considered to have low invasive potential.

Like most ornamental trees, it will probably not do as well as native species such as ponderosa pine under conditions of benign neglect.
