I just moved into a new home this fall and it has a wonderful raspberry bush. The problem is, I do not know the variety or how to prune it for winter and the upcoming spring. When we moved in (late October) it still had fruit on it. The berries were red and about small to medium.
Hopefully the NDSU Extension Service publication on Refreshing Raspberries at www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/plantsci/hortcrop/h38.pdf can help you, especially on the pruning. Determining the variety is more difficult. If the written information doesn't help enough, contact Cass County Extension Horticulturist Todd Weinmann at firstname.lastname@example.org or 241-5707. Good luck. Growing raspberries sounds great on this cold day.
