I have tulip and lily bulbs to plant this fall. Can I plant those bulbs in containers? If so, what special treatment do they need so they do well in the spring? Or is it best to plant them directly in to the ground? (I'm trying to keep them away from squirrels and rabbits!) Thanks

If you plant them in containers, they must be kept over winter where the soil in the pots remains cold but does not drop much below freezing. As an alternative you can keep the pots outdoors over winter by sinking the pots into the ground up to the rims.
