Saddle leaf Philodendron

Asked October 2, 2014, 8:36 PM EDT

I have a 40 plus year old Philodendron. About ten years ago I repotted it into a big pot and now it is very heavy. It is becoming difficult for my husband and me to move outside during warm weather months. I want to pair the roots down and put it into a smaller pot. Can I do this without killing it, and if so how?
Thank you very much.

Hi Ledy,

You should be able to repot the philodendron without too much difficulty. Please refer to page 13 of the publication link below for details on how to properly cut the roots back and create a more manageable plant.
