Pennisetum alopecuroides is listed as an invasive plant in PA. Pennisetum Hameln and Little Bunny are supposed to be sterile cultivars. Will they cross pollinate with the straight species and cause invasive seedlings? Thanks so much!

We do not know if anyone has done work that would say whether Hameln or Little Bunny will pollinate with the straight species. Our expert has written to another expert. There are some online sources that suggest that all cultivars are capable of some self seeding if the conditions are appropriate. If we get a definitive answer, we will let you know.
