apple tree

Asked September 29, 2014, 3:09 PM EDT

I have an apple tree, the apples are deformed with black indented spots on them. I have tried several different sprays on it and it does not seem to help. Any suggestions?

Are the black indented spots on the apples surrounded by a 'red' halo? If so, your tree may be suffering from 'Bot Rot' or 'White Rot'. Do you notice any cankers or lesions on the tree's trunk or branches? If your tree has this, it most likely was infected in the past 6-8 weeks. It is hard to provide an accurate diagnosis without seeing the tree or affected fruit. Is it possible for you to bring a sample into our New Castle County Cooperative Extension office and provide more details to our staff? The office is located at 461 Wyoming Road, Newark.
