Please identify Weed

This weed is going next to my house. It is gently prickly on edges of leaves and underside of leaves are silvery/dusty. I tried pulling it out last year but didn't get it all - hasn't multiplied. Please help.

Thank you for the question. It is difficult to tell for sure what your plant is, but it may be a type of thistle. It might be too immature to flower this year, but will probably do so next year. Native and non-native thistles grow in Minnesota. Native thistles can be identified by examining the underside of the leaves. The downy white underside contrasts with the green topside. Additionally, native thistles are noticeably less prickly. One expert suggested globe thistle, echinops ritro. Identification would probably be more definite if you let the plant grow and bloom and sent us photos at that time. Here are links to other thistle resources:
