We have been trying to raise pole and bush lima beans(king of garden pole) for the past few years, and getting only bloom and no beans. We use no pesticides, have noted bees and butterflies in area. For many years before that we grew them by the bushels. We use horse manure for the soil in early spring. What are we doing wrong??

This is becoming a common complaint in the last few years. Last year we thought it was due to high temperatures rendering the pollen infertile, but that is not the case this year, and we are not really certain of the cause.
A factor to consider is nitrogen levels. Are you using any additional nitrogen fertilizers other than the manure? This tends to produce lush plants at the expense of beans.
