How do I get bats out of my attic?

Asked September 15, 2014, 7:52 AM EDT

I think I have bats in the attic and want to get them out. There is a smell and droppings. I think they are in an outside wall. I don't want to leave behind any baby bats though. What can I use to chase them out? Do the electronic devices work?

Your bats should be maturing enough that the young are leaving the roost and searching for food as well. They should also be leaving your house soon as well.

Once you know they have left, you are going to have to bat proof your house, as they will return year after year to the same location. Here is the best link from Bat Conservation International on bat proofing your home: Excluding Bats from Buildings. BCI is located in Austin.

You can also find bat excluders who will come to your home and help you eliminate bats the right way
