Can you identify this bug for me?

I photographed this insect on Aug. 1, 2014, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. It was approximately 1 inch long. Can you identify it for me? I first thought that it was a box elder beetle, but the markings are incorrect and the wings are too long.
Thank you for the question and photo. As best I can tell from the photo, the insect is a type of moth called Hypoprepia miniata or Scarlet-winged Lichen Moth. Here is a link to learn more about it: http://bugguide.net/node/view/16273
