When putting grape vines up on the wire, what is the proper way to attach them? Is it harmful to the vine to be gently twisted once around the wire before it is tied? or should they be laid on top of the wire and tied down?

Thanks for your question.

There are several ways of trellising grapes. The link below describes the best methods for Minnesota. In any case, the vine is gently twisted around the wire, then lightly tied. As the vine grows, the ties and twisting are moved further out the wire.
