based on an hgic search, there was a test of 5 forage radishes for cover crops done last yr. did results provide preference for specific varieties for small home gardens? i can imagine some larger ones might be suitable for farm fields but not for small crops in small areas.

That research on forage radish was not done by our facility. We have access to information from the entire College of Agriculture and Natural Resources on that search engine. We'd recommend that you go back to the author of that research.

Forage radish is especially helpful in clay soils. It's good to plant through, but if you plan to turn it over be aware that the resulting smell is very unpleasant.
