What has happened to my dogwood?

Asked September 9, 2014, 11:44 AM EDT

The dogwood is 2 years old. It gets plenty of water and sunlight. Its leaves are drooping and there are many small branches without leaves. Flowers were fine in the spring and we have a number of new, healthy redbud and evergreens, but this one looks weak.

It would be helpful to see a photo of the leaves up close. A view of the entire tree would also be helpful. Please attach photos in a response.

If you cannot do so, we would like to know if the leaves are perfectly healthy and drooping or are showing some spotting or discoloration. Please describe it.

It may help you to read over our online publication IPM Series: Dogwood for a diagnostic chart of dogwood diseases.
