I planted this tree in early June and now it looks terrible! Any ideas? Can it be saved?

The nature of the damage to your Leyland is indicative of a 'root' problem. When a recently planted tree displays canopy damage from the top-down, it is almost always a problem resulting from either the planting technique, damage to the roots, inadequate root availability, too much water or too little water during the establishment phase (which is typically the first two years following the transplant).
Given the size of the tree and the recent transplanting, the roots are probably inadequate to accommodate the canopy.
It will not recover its green foliage.
