The leaves on one side of my red maple tree are curling up. The tree is approximately 6 years old. What should I do?

From the photo that you sent we cannot say for sure why the leaves are curling on the maple. Some possibilities include: lack of moisture, poor soils, check along the trunk and branches for possible boring insects, pull mulch back from around the base of the tree trunk - mulch should be no thicker than two inches and do not let it touch the trunk . You should be able to see the flare of the trunk around the base. If not, the tree may be planted too deeply.
At this point check for all of the above, monitor the tree for additional symptoms, and keep the tree watered during dry periods. See our publication on shade trees for more information http://extension.umd.edu/sites/default/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/HG61_IPM_Series_Shad...

You can contact a certifed arborist for an onsite diagnosis regarding the health of the tree http://www.treesaregood.org/
