Lyme disease from ingesting infected tic?

Asked August 7, 2014, 4:25 AM EDT

I like to buy lettuce at the farmer's market. Twice, I have seen a sesame seed sized bug crawl out of my salad that I believe to be a tic, possibly a deer tic. Obviously I did not ingest these. However, I am wondering, is it possible to get Lyme disease from eating an infested tic?
