I have canned quite a bit of jam (strawberry,blueberry,peach,grape) this summer using the inversion method which didn't require a water bath time. Will it keep for up to a year or did I mess up?

I'm not sure what the inversion method is? For safe storage we recommend a water bath boiling for 5 or 10 minutes depending on what type of jam you are processing. A water bath processing is needed to keep out bacteria and mold growth. Here are a couple of research-tested references for you.
