Thank you for the question. It is always difficult to determine why a plant fails to flower. The literature mentions heat and drought stress as reasons for blossoms to drop from beans. Perhaps you had blossoms that dropped before you noticed them? It hasn't been excessively hot nor dry in the Twin Cities this year so I doubt this is the problem unless your beans are planted in a place where they rarely get rain or supplemental water. Beans need to be planted in full or close to full day sun, need to be watered regularly, and should not be fertilized too much. Too much nitrogen can cause lush green growth and very little else. I don't know what type of bean you have planted or when. Pole beans tend to flower all about the same time and bush beans produce a continuous crop as long as they are regularly harvested. If you water them, haven't over fertilized them and they are in full sun, they should bloom. Perhaps you just need to be patient. Most varieties we grow here produce beans in 50-60 days.
