all the receipes for dilly green beans usually are 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar. Can I change the receipe so it doesn't have so much vinegar? I have a receipe for dill pickles. Could I use this one instead

I understand your desire for a less tart product but the recipes are developed to ensure that the brine has enough acidity to make the vegetable safe to eat. Could you try rinsing the beans before eating or soaking them briefly to take some of the sourness away? Here is a link to info on pickling. There are links at the bottom to recipes but the bean recipe has the ratio that you have given. http://www.extension.umn.edu/food/food-safety/preserving/pickling/pickling-not-just-for-cucumbers/
