Removing Dried Poison Ivy Oil

Asked August 2, 2014, 1:01 PM EDT

Thanks for your earlier help.. Three concerns: Is washing exposed clothing with cold water in washing machine, then washing again with cold water and detergent enough to get rid of the oil?

Do I then need to decontaminate the washer some Way before doing other washing?

I have heard that I must get the oil off everything including tools, clothes, myself, etc within 20 minutes or it doesn't work. If the oil dries on these things what can I do to get rid of it?

The washing regime you describe is enough to get rid of the oil. You do not need to decontaminate the washing machine. Washing tools or anything that came in contact with the oil in warm soapy water is fine. Here is a link with more details.
