What is wrong with this zucchini plant?

Asked July 30, 2014, 10:38 AM EDT

The zucchini plant shown in the photograph was planted June 1 and is now nearly full grown. About three weeks ago, some leaves began yellowing and turning brown around the edges. Other leaves appear healthy (no drooping). Other squash plants adjacent to this one are very healthy. There are minimal soil problems, and there has been no pesticide application. What is wrong?

It looks like a portion of the plant is healthy. The yellow leaves may be due to a leaf scorch or damage to the stem or roots. Look around the base of the plant and stem for insect or wildlife damage. Continue to monitor the plant. If the other half of the plant remains healthy, simply pick off the yellow leaves.
