Should you deadhead day lilies? I have several groupings. They all seem to bloom at the same time and now have bud caps on them. Can or should those be cut off and the stem cut back now or in the fall? Is there anything one can do to get them to bloom again? I see other plantings that seem to have continual blooms. thanks

There are many cultivars of daylilies. Their bloom time varies from early to late summer. Some cultivars produce more buds per scape or flowering stem. Select plants the bloom at varies times. Stella de Oro is a cultivar known for numerous buds or flowers per scape. It is best to remove seedpods after bloom to prevent seed production. Plants producing seed are likely to have fewer flowers the following year. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/flowers/growing-daylilies/
