What is this tree?

I am trying to identify a tree that my son has in his backyard in Dallas, Texas, and that I happened to locate in my woods in Kemp, Texas. The leaves are like those of a live oak but longer, and the fruit is like a disco ball instead of an acorn. Please see the attached photos. What is this tree?

Based on the photos you sent, the tree could be a gum bully, Sideroxylon lanuginosum. To see photos of this type of tree and and obtain more information about it, see the Gum Bully page at the Texas A&M Forest Service Trees of Texas website or the Sideroxylon lanuginosum page at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center's Native Plant Information Network (NPIN) Native Plant Database website.
