Hello,

Thank you for contacting Delaware Cooperative Extension. You may receive a survey after the answer to this question.
It is difficult to grow fruit trees and obtain good quality fruit in our area without a general spray program for insect pests and diseases, mainly due to our humidity and climate. We are hoping to have a new UD fact sheet on home fruit in the near future. However, you can refer to ones from another state if you follow a reputable University or Cooperative Extension web site. University of New Hampshire has a good spray program information sheet for apples which can be found at:

You can purchase a fruit tree spray for home orchards at a garden center or large home store. Make sure you read the label and apply according to the label. There are separate sprays for insect pests and diseases, and some combination products that are sold that will help control both. Timing is important to get good control and to be considerate of bee populations.
Good luck with your apple crop.
