I want to plant spinach, kale, broccoli, and carrots for a Fall harvest and for overwintering. What is the best time to plant these vegetables? I intend to grow them all by direct-sowing seeds in my beds. I have the space in my beds now. Can I plant this week (end of July), or should I wait until the middle of August?

You can start planting the seeds for these fall vegetables now. For future reference, see the link for planting dates in Maryland. LW
