What is this?

Found on the lip of a large pot that has a tropical plan in it. There are several tropical plants that I've purchased this season near it... a double hibiscus, a "fan fern" and a reddish purplish rounded broadleaf plan I don't know the name(s) of. It's hard/firm on the outer side, bumpy. I haven't tried to squish it... I've never seen anything like it in Iowa.

We believe this might be a mass of frog eggs. You might try scooping them up and place them in water and see what happens. You might also try contacting a biologist in your area to see if they can identify it. Sorry we can't be more specific, but that is the closest we could come to what it looked like.

Hope this is helpful.
