Can you help us determine what is wrong with our cucumbers and tell us what we need to do to save them? We have (2) burpless plants and (4) plants for pickles. They are next to each other and we had the same problem last year. Lots of flowers but not much fruit. Looks like something is eating some of them too, although we have not seen any bugs. Pictures are attached (3); more are available if needed. Thanks for your help Annette and Steve Funari South Washington County

First of all, sorry for the delay in responding. We are a group of volunteers and are quite swamped right now.

It looks like you have some kind of fungus, possibly gummy stem blight or anthracnose. See http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/vegetables/diseases-of-cucurbits/#gummy-stem for information. The wet weather has made these issues common. There is not a lot you can do right now, but the link will explain the options. It is very important to rotate your crops or you will continue to have this problem.

I can't see much of the bugs in your picture, but check this on four-lined plant bugs:

Again, sorry for the delay and thanks for using Ask a Master Gardener.
