I recently moved to Baldwin in Baltimore County and I am not familiar with the tree in the attached photo. There are many of them along the woods line of various age and many small ones popping up. I am wondering if it is an invasive species and if I should remove some of them. Any info and advise will be helpful. Thank you, Lynda Kerdasha

Baltimore County Maryland shrubs invasive native ailanthus

Yes, this is a highly invasive species known as ailanthus, or commonly known as Tree of Heaven (ironically!). For instructions on getting rid of it, go to the website "Weeds Gone Wild" and look at the Fact Sheet for Ailanthus. They are not impossible to remove and the control steps are very effective.
