Meyer lemons have recently developed "scarred" look. Can you identify the cause?

Thanks!

The scarring is from pecking and scratching by mockingbirds. We see this problem frequently in Texas and elsewhere on the gulf coast. Mockingbirds are notoriously territorial and visit citrus trees frequently in your landscape.
Use netting or other scare-away devices to keep the birds out of the trees. Limit feeding birds in your landscape which may also contribute to the problem.
