Peach Tree Losing Leaves

Asked June 26, 2014, 4:19 PM EDT

I have two peach trees side by side. They have been in the ground for at least three years. One of them appears to be turning yellow and losing its leaves. Is there anything I can do or is the tree dying?

Peach trees are difficult to grow here in South Dakota. Te flowers are often killed by the frost in spring. They can also be killed by midwinter termperatures of about -20F. The tree is also prone to a bacterial canker which will eventually kill the tree. There is no chemical control and the removal of infected branches will slow the process but the end result will be the same.
