Could you explain what the sticky white exudate looks like? I am not sure what it is as to whether the green beans are safe to eat.

The white exudate was thick & adhered to the beans, clumping about ten of them together. There were several bunches like that in aby 3 qt. of green beans. It did not want to wash off

I discussed this with a Master Gardener, as I was not sure what it could be on your green beans. They were not sure either without seeing a picture.

At this time I would not recommend eating them without having an expert check them. Please contact your local Extension office. If you take a sample in a plastic bag into the office they should be able to provide a better answer of what is causing the problem and how to correct it.
