Pro lapsed uterus

Asked June 24, 2014, 7:18 PM EDT

I had a 3 year old cow that suffered a prolapsed uterus during her last calving. The veterinarian was able to get the uterus pushed back in. My question is if I should cull the cow to avoid this next time? What are the odds of her uterus pro lapsing again?

Since the ligaments, that suspend and retain the uterus in position, were stretched during the prolapse, a recurrence is likely at next calving if the ligaments are not completely healed and repaired. Also, the ability to conceive is reduced due to the uterus being damaged during the prolapse.
