Hi, We planted five blue holly bushes last Spring (four females and one male). Several of the leaves have fallen from three of them. There is new growth. Is this a symptom of a planting issue or just a result of the harsh Winter? Thanks,

Your holly shrub is certainly suffering from winter damage, but, given its young age, there could be some root issues as well. The good news is that new growth is popping out and there is reason to believe that the plant will recover. You may want to give it a little shot of fertilizer and provide supplemental water should we have a hot, dry summer.
