My row of Leyland Cypress has lots of brown needles. Most puzzling is white, sort of slimy secretions on needles, also. Do you know what they are and do they have to be treated. Thank you. Will a fair number of browned needles kill the trees?

Pleas send us digital photos of the tree, browning needles, and the white secretion you are noticing. We have been getting reports of many leyland cypress showing winter damage of varying degrees. There are also several insects and diseases that can impact leyland cypress, not to mention problems caused by improper planting, root damage and other abiotic problems.
