How do I fix my really dead grass?

Asked June 17, 2014, 10:53 AM EDT

Hello I was wondering if there is anything I can do fix my grass. We seeded our front yard on March we used a tiller bought new soil spread Bermuda seeds and it grew beautifully it lasted green and beautiful for about 2 months then we got a dead brown dead spot it seemed burned we cut the grass since it was to tall and we used an insect and disease preventive liquid and after almost 3 weeks the dead grass started spreading and today all of it is brown. The neighborhood people tell me it has been 20 years since they've seen my house with lawn so what can I do to fix my grass it was so much work I would really appreciate if someone can help me with some advice. Thank you

When putting any plant in your yard, best to learn about the plant and it's problems. Then determine if the declining grass problem was due to care and maintenance (mowing, fertilizers, pesticides), or whether an insect problem has occurred. I am attaching a University of Florida fact sheet on Lawn Establishment http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/lh013. And to help you weed out the possibilities contact your local "Ask an Expert" the Okaloosa County Extension Service at: http://okaloosa.ifas.ufl.edu/
