crabgrass

Asked June 16, 2014, 2:07 AM EDT

How can crabgrass be killed or at least controlled in a rock garden area without killing my flowers? There is way too much to pull out. Is there anything that is not toxic to bees etc? Someone suggested pouring (very carefully) a hot vinegar/water solution on it. I will wait on that one. Thank you for any help you give.

Thank you for your question.

Is the crabgrass in an area that you can place a black garbage bag (or a cut - fit piece of a garbage bag) over the top of it? When you start using chemicals, there is always a chance that they will damage the flowers, so I appreciate your forethought in asking for ways to kill the crabgrass without chemical use.

I am attaching a link regarding crabgrass from the University of California, please read it and let me know if you have any additional questions.
