What is this climbing vine?

Asked June 15, 2014, 11:11 PM EDT

I live in Greeley, Colorado, and a vine is growing up a trellis at the house I just moved to. The stem is red. The newer leaves are red too. As the leaves grow, they turn green, but the veins remain red. The leaves are single on the stem--one on each side. The vine doesn't have any blooms yet. Do you have any ideas about what the vine might be?

The vine might be a type of honeysuckle, but it's not possible to make a positive identification from the photos. For a definite identification, take a sample to the Weld County Cooperative Extension System office at Island Grove, Colorado.
