Is there any way at all to get rid of purslane?

Asked June 2, 2014, 10:35 PM EDT

Is there any way at all to get rid of purslane? It had infested almost my entire back yard. Pulling each plant would be impossible. I just noticed it growing again this year and sprayed with RoundUp today, as the plants are still small and I'm hoping to kill them before they get to germination stage. Is there anything else I can do? It about drove me nuts last year.

Thanks, Beth

Beth, thank you for your question.

Here is a link from CSU regarding purslane. The most effective way to control purslane is to use a post emergent, which, in layman's terms means applying a herbicide just after the young plants have emerged from the soil.
