Lately these little flies have been showing up in the bathroom. There are usually only one or two at a time and they don't seem to bite but I am wondering what they are and why do they like the bathroom? My granddaughter, who lives in North Carolina, says they also have them in their bathroom. They are very small with over-sized wings.

Your insect is a drain fly. This insect is most often associated with drain traps that contain some amount of organic sludge. The easiest control method is to clean your drains in order to eliminate breeding sites.
