I have an eastern redbud that is putting out seeds this year. What is the best time to harvest them for planting or what are the signs to watch for?

Prince George's County Maryland trees and shrubs propagation redbud trees

In general the seed posses an impermeable coat and embryo dormancy. Collect seed in September-October. Dry, clean, and remove any that are insect infested. Many nurserymen plant in the fall and achieve good germination. You can try and nick the seed or soak in hot water first followed by cold stratification.
