Get rid of Incense Cedar/Serviceberry Rust?

Asked May 24, 2014, 5:19 PM EDT

Hi, Is there a way to rid my trees of rust? I noticed the rust earlier this spring on my Incense Cedar and now I see the rust on my serviceberry.

At the moment we are getting out of the season where these fungal infections take place. There is little to do now until next spring. You can remove one or the other host and that might help. You can also choose a fungicide or two depending on your use of the trees. Just know that you protect the service berry trees first and then go after the cedars. It would take a few yeas to make good headway on this disease. Make your plans by looking at the following: http://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/cedar-incense-broom-rust
