My mom sent me this picture of something she believes is a weed growing around her grape hyacinth. Can you identify it? It does not have scalloped edges (well, they are gently and slightly scalloped only), so I'm not sure what it is. Thanks for your help.

This looks very similar to Canadian ginger, which is a very desirable, native, ground cover. It's flowers are very unusual--sort of brownish-purple and hidden under the leaves.
It also resembles violets somewhat, but those purple, white or yellow flowers are blooming now. Whatever it is, you mother should see some kind of flowering eventually, which should aid in making a positive ID. You're welcome to send us another photo of it in flower.
We'd recommend that you look at the images of both of the plants mentioned above in a search engine.
