North Privet Bareroot Hedge
north privet hedge in zone 5 are these wind tolerant? We are between Cheyenne and Laramie Wy and are wanting to plant this hedge on West side of home as a privacy fence and the conservation district is not familiar with this hedge to see if it would withstand our winds here??
Laramie County Wyoming
There are lots of different types of hedges that can be utilized in our area. Wyoming, and the Cheyenne/Laramie area is considered to be at least in the zone 4 if not zone 3 area. What this means is that I would reconsider the use of the North Privet Hedge, because it is not likely to survive in our climate very well, with the lack of moisture and cold temperatures. There are a couple of options for you in terms of hedge rows Caragana, Cotoneaster, Honeysuckle hedge, or even Lilacs work very well as a privacy type hedge row. All of these plants have great color in the spring and fall as well.
