separation of church and state

I wanted to know what Oregon's 4-H policy is on religion in 4-H clubs. We just signed up for a few clubs and at one of them the leader sang the Johnny Appleseed song (prayer before eating snacks)...is that supposed to happen in a government organization, according to OSU/4-H?

The Oregon 4-H Youth Development Program subscribes to national 4-H policies when dealing with issues of religion. The USDA fact sheet on that topic can be accessed at http://www.csrees.usda.gov/nea/family/res/pdfs/Religion_2011.pdf Regarding prayers before mealtime, the fact sheet states that "4-H club members and volunteers could use a neutral or nondenominational prayer or reflection to create an environment of solemnity, or to gather a group for a shared meal, but these should not be specific to one denomination..."
