Fire ants in potted plants

I have. Lemon tree in a potted plant that has been invaded by fire ants. What is the best way to get rid of the ants without damaging my lemon tree?

You can use a fire ant bait around the outside of the potted plant. The fire ants will forage outside of the pot to locate food, and will find the bait. Make sure to not get the bait wet.
