Hi there,

As you may know, the ruby-throated hummingbird migrates to Central America in the winter months. They return to Ohio usually around mid-April. You can put out hummingbird feeders anytime now.

For your feeders, you should use a mixture of one-quarter cup sugar per one cup of water. Table sugar works best and food coloring is unnecessary. You'll want to change the water before is turns cloudy or discolors.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to email or call (wolfe.540@osu.edu or 330-928-4769, ext. 17).

Thanks!
