I sent a picture of a white pine that has several hollow holes and looks as though it is being eaten. someone replied asking what the rest of the tree looks like. There is still green on it but the spots are traveling up the tree. I am attaching another picture of higher up in the tree. can you suggest someone I can call to come look at it?

The holes in the trunk look like they may have been made by woodpeckers, possibly the pileated woodpecker looking for larvae (borers). There is no control for boring insects.
It would be a good idea to contact a certified arborist regarding the health of the tree and whether it is a hazard. You may have to consider removal. http://www.treesaregood.org/
