Many yrs ago I was given an aloa vera which have maintained, i.e., its pups, ever since. I knew there were many kinds of aloas and that only vera has medicinal properties. Recently I've been looking at them in stores and notice that the spikes are quite sharp and pronounced, while on my plant smaller and benign. Is it likely that I do not have a true aloa vera?
We have seen variations in the degree to which aloe vera is prickly. Based on the information that you have given, we cannot confirm whether your plant is aloe vera. You might put aloe vera into Google Image and see how your plant compares with the images, especially those images on sites associated with major universities or other reputable organizations. vw
