Trying to start a small vegetable and egg business.

Asked April 9, 2014, 1:07 PM EDT

I just recently moved to Berks County Pa. My boss threw at me to sell eggs and vegetables and I have no clue where to start. I don't know what the legal laws are in selling. I want to start out very small and locally. What are the laws in Berks County for selling produce or where can I get that information? Do I have to have a permit to sell to friends and neighbors, or local diners and farmers markets? If so, where do I go for that?

We are assuming you or your boss are the farmer. Guidelines can be different depending on if the marketer is the farmer or not.

Basically, there are few (if any) laws regulating selling produce in Pennsylvania.

The questions you ask can be a little complex to respond to here so we suggest you contact your local expert and have a conversation.
