Milky Spore Disease--where to obtain economically? locally?

Asked April 7, 2014, 9:18 AM EDT

Hi. My neighbors and I in Coburn, PA Centre County want to apply MILKY SPORE DISEASE to our lawns to help control Japanese beetles. Do you know of a good source for this locally? Also a reliable and economical source--even if "on-line"? Any tips on when and how to apply it? Thanks so much!

Hello, and thanks for using the Ask an Expert System.

Milky sport power is a mixture of bacterial spores and inert ingredients. Most mixtures are more than 99% inert ingredients. This can be effective in controlling Japanese beetles, but it has its limitations. I recommend that you read a fact sheet on using milky spore from the University of Illinois available at http://hyg.ipm.illinois.edu/pastpest/200120b.html

For information on suppliers in your area I recommend that you contact
